I have had so much fun this year with my newly enhanced Learning and Life Skills programs. I wrote an original curriculum based on everything horse. The first was "The Story of the Horse," then "Horse Inside Out." I learned along with my kids so much about these incredible animals that have fascinated me my whole life.
Next week we have our third and final program, which will cover the "Florida Cracker Cowboy." I am very familiar with the Western Cowboy though I had no idea what these cowboys went through to move cattle across Florida in the late 1800s. The chief tool of the Florida cowboy was a strong whip. When he cracked it to herd the cattle along, it sounded like a gunshot which sometimes resounded for several miles; hence they were called "crackers." Who knew...?
